You will notice that your initial visit at Bryn Mawr Dental Associates does require an unusual amount of time, but we feel it is well worth the investment. It begins with a detailed review of your medical and dental history. A complete and thorough evaluation of soft tissues and an oral cancer screening will be performed, as well as detailed charting of all existing dental restorations and necessary work. This evaluation, combined with your digital x-rays and other specific tests provides us with the information necessary to make an accurate diagnosis and periodontal classification.
Also at this visit, your home care habits will be assessed and discussed, and modifications may be suggested. Depending on the results of your periodontal evaluation and the amount of tartar and stain accumulated, we will help to determine what type of hygiene appointment is necessary, and schedule accordingly. At this visit is also our hope to provide you with a detailed treatment plan to restore your mouth to optimal health. In some situations we may request that you come back for a consultation, at no charge, so we may spend more time to discuss your individual needs and requests.
